Enjoy the magnificent nature of the Ikara Flinders Ranges

Flinders Ranges Bushwalking

Trails range from the leisurely hour-long Drought Busters Trail highlighting native plants to full-day return walks to St. Mary Peak*, the highest point in the Flinders, or Edeowie Gorge and Glenora Falls. The famous Heysen Trail stretching from Parachilna to Cape Jervis, south of Adelaide, also passes through this region. Maps and trail brochures are available at the Visitor Information Centre, or you can join one of our Aboriginal guided tours.

*St Mary Peak is central to the Adnyamathanha creation story. The Adnyamathaha people of the Flinders Ranges prefer that visitors DO NOT climb to the summit of the peak.

NOTE: The following walks are closed each summer due to severe heat conditions expected during the summer.

  • St. Mary Peak
  • Mt Ohlssen Bagge
