Star Gazing in the Flinders Ranges

With virtually no light polution, stable air, and 360° surround views of the night sky, Wilpena Pound Resort offers some of the best outback star gazing in Australia.

Find ancient constellations and planets, and gaze directly up into the thousands of stars that make up the Milky Way. Winter nights make for the best star gazing with longer nights and mostly cloud free conditions, but summer also puts on a great show above.

Buy a star map from our Visitor Information Centre team and take a walk outside. It's all up there just waiting for you to discover. ⭐️🌙

SA Department of Environment and Water lists the top 5 parks for stargazing in South Australia, including the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. Read the article here.

NOTE: Wilpena Pound Resort does not currently offer guided star gazing tours.
